Who Is Imran Khan:

Imran khan is a former cricketer and famous leader, born on 25th November 1952 in Lahore (PAKISTAN). He is a Pakistani politician and former cricketer. He played cricket for Pakistan almost two decades in late 20th century and, after his retirement from cricket he participated in politics. He is known and famous personality around world because of his social work for humanity. Besides these activities, he is also a cricket commentator, philanthropist, chancellor of the Bradford University and chairman of Board of governors of SHAUKAT KHANAM HOSPITAL. In 2008, Khan founded Namal College in Mianwali.

He is the only Pakistani captain that led his country to victory in 1992 cricket world Cup. He was the most successful captain in the history of Pakistan cricket; he played cricket for Pakistan from 1972 t0 1992 and serve his country as role of captain from 1982 to 1992. Still people know him as captain of Pakistan. Once he retired from cricket after the cricket world cup of 1987, in 1988. He has great number fan following in Pakistan and it was huge demand from people to come back, and he was requested by President of Pakistan General Zia-ul-Haq to lead the cricket team once again. At the age of thirty-nine, Imran Khan led his cricket team to victory in 1992 cricket world cup. It was the Pakistan’s first success in the history of cricket world cup and after that Pakistan not been able to win any cricket world cup yet 2015. In July 2010, Imran khan was introduced into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
Imran khan lay down the foundation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (“Movement for Justice”) and became its chairman, in April 1996. Khan participated in 2002 elections from Mianwali and became the member of national Assembly from 2002 to 2007. He was elected again in May 2013 elections, on the other hand, his party Pakistan-Tehreek-e Insaf gained thirty 35 seats in National Assembly of Pakistan. He was mentioned 3rd in the list of 9 world leaders of 2012 by global post. Imran khan was the first person in Pakistan politics who opposed drone attacks in boundaries of Pakistan. In 2012, Asia society voted and awarded him as Asia’s person of the year. According to Pew Research Center survey, Imran Khan revealed as most famous or popular person among youth in Pakistan.

Personal Life of Imran Khan:

Imran Khan’s family:

Imran khan borned in Niazi family, his father name is Ikramullah Khan Niazi, mother name was Shaukat Khanam. Khan parents belong to Mianwali, province Punjab. Khan parents belong to Pashtun ethnicity and Niazi tribe. Imran khan was the only son of Ikramullah khan Niazi While Imran Khan has four sisters, a very shy and quiet boy in youth age. Imran Khan grew up in upper-middle-class family and received his early education in Lahore. Khan also went to Atchison College in Lahore, where he promoted his skills at cricket. He got admission in Keble College Oxford in 1972, where he graduated with the combination of different subjects (philosophy, politics, and Economics) in 1975. Khan’s mother belongs to Burki family, which produced various successful cricketers including, Javed Burki, Majid Khan, and Misbah-ul-Haq.

 Imran Khan wife:

Khan married to a British woman Jemima Goldsmith, in May 1995. Jemima Goldsmith accepted Islam as well. When khan joined politics, opposition parties raised a controversy point about Jemima’s Jewish ancestry. Khan divorced Jemima and ended the relationship with her after nine year of marriage; the reason behind that broke up was the hurdles for Jemima adapting life in Pakistan. Imran khan has two sons from her; Sulaiman Isa and Qasim.

Imran khan married again with a TV anchor Reham Khan in a private ceremony at Bani Gala, on 6 January 2015. Their wedding was so simple, only some close people were invited. They spent the whole day with the orphan child’s.


Imran Khan Cricket Career:


Imran khan the world’s renowned cricketer made first-class cricket debut at the age of 16 from Lahore. In the start of 1970s, he starts playing for his domestic team Lahore in the different zone of Pakistan. Khan also became the part of Blues cricket team in the University of Oxford in 1973 to 1975. Imran khan started county cricket in England from 1971-76, he was considered as an average medium pace bowler. He also played for Sussex from 1983-88.
Imran Khan made test cricket debut in 1971, against England in the city of Birmingham. After three years of his test debut, he also made debut in ODI (One Day International) match at Nottingham again playing against England for Prudential Trophy. After finishing his studies at Oxford University, he returned to Pakistan where he found the permanent place in International cricket team of Pakistan in 1976. In 1978, he was recognized as world’s 3rd fastest bowler after Jeff Thomson and Michael Holding in a contest held at Perth. He bowled at the speed of 139.7 km/h in that contest. Imran khan fame reached at peak in cricket in 1982.


In 1982, at the peak of his career, the 30-year-old Imran khan took charge for the captaincy of the cricket team.

Under the captaincy of Imran khan Pakistan won the first test match against England at Lord’s. During the first year as captaincy khan was well established as all-rounder as well as fast-bowler. In 1981-1982, Imran khan set his best test career record against Sri-Lanka by taking 8 wickets for just 58 runs. It wouldn’t be wrong to say, that it was the best year (1982) for Imran khan throughout his cricket career. In the same year he made formidable performance in a home series against India, he took forty (40) wickets in six (6) test matches with an average of 13.95.
Imran khan was the first captain for Pakistan which led Pakistani cricket team to win a first ever test match series on India’s soil in 1987. in the same year under Imran khan captaincy, Pakistani cricket team won first test match series against England. After the 1987 world cup, co-hosted by India and Pakistan, khan once retired from cricket. In 1988, on the request of Pakistan president General Zia-ul-Haq, he rejoined Pakistan cricket team as captain. At last the time came when he proved himself the best captain after entitled the Pakistan by cricket world cup winner in 1992. He took the last winning wicket of 1992 world cup by himself. After winning the 1992 world cup, khan disconnected from International cricket permanently.

Imran khan as Welfare Activist:

Khan worked for the promotion of immunization and health plans in various countries of Asia, he also worked as Special Representative for Sports in UNICEF.

1: Shaukat Khanam Memorial Trust
Shaukat Khanam Memorial Trust built in 1991at Lahore District Province Punjab. He laid down the foundation of this charity organization, the organization bear’s the name of his mother Shaukat Khanam. It was the first and only cancer hospital built in Pakistan, constructed with the donations and funds collected by khan all around world.
2: Namal College Mianwali
Namal College in 2008 at Mianwali District Province Punjab and its affiliation belongs to the University of Bradford.
Imran khan foundation is based on welfare work, which is helping needy and poor people in all around Pakistan. In different sudden natural disasters and calamities, Imran khan foundation teams reach on victims place and help people via various sources.

Imran Khan Politics and Pakistan Tehreek –E-Insaf (PTI):

PTI came into being in 1996, political party by a sport man. Imran khan wants to eradicate corruption and the mafias of politics. Imran khan rejected the offer of Prime Minister in Musharraf’s reign. In 2002 khan’s party PTI, took part in elections but people response wasn’t good enough to gain much seats. At that time khan first time elected as MNA from Mianwali.
Khan political struggle was so hard in initial time; he wouldn’t get positive response from people. But he remained determined on all his stances and aim he set for his country. In 2011, Imran khan came with the vision he had in 1996, a vision of change. No body heard him in the early years of politics but that was the time for Imran Khan that took him high in politics. His vision of change worked out and in October 2011 he addressed more than 100,000 people, he introduced with another word “TUSNAMI”. Khan another success was mighty gathering of his followers or supporters in Karachi in the same year December 2011. People of Pakistan are watching hope under his solid leadership, he is also known as the “KAPTAN OF PAKISTAN”.
According to International Republic Institute survey, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is the most popular political party in Pakistan at International as well as at provincial basis. According to a survey, Imran khan is the only brave political leader in Pakistan who is against the US drone strikes. Imran khan strike out against these drones attacks in shape of a caravan from Islamabad to Waziristan.
In March 2013, khan came with another attractive slogan of “NAYA PAKISTAN”; this slogan increased his popularity in all areas of Pakistan. During election campaign 2013, his supporters spread the slogan of “NAYA PAKISTAN” in every corner of Pakistan which results in 35 National assembly seats for PTI and appeared as a real opposition. In this way, PTI also took charge over KPK government and start working with the new concepts to bring real change in Pakistan.

Political Ideology or platform of PTI:


Imran khans set his politics ideology based on Islamic values, corrupt-less law, same rules and regulations for weak and strong for rich and poor, free and fair electoral process, similar education system for everyone, anti-corrupt govt., independent state, transparent police system, opportunities for youngsters, providing sports ground to produce talented youngster, growth in economy and foremost elimination of terrorism and power crisis in Pakistan.

Awards and Achievements of Imran Khan:

1: In 1980, khan achieved the award of best all-around in first class cricket of England.
2: He was awarded Wisden Cricketer of the year 1983 and in the same year he got pride of performance award.
3: He honored the 5th Chancellor of the Bradford University.
4: Khan also got award of Humanitarian in Kuala Lumpur, due to his effort of building 1st cancer hospital in Pakistan
5: In 2008 Imran Khan was the one of various Asian cricketers who awarded silver jubilee at inauguration ceremony of Asian Cricket Council.
6: According to a survey held by pew research center khan is the most popular leader in Pakistan among youth.
